Our February Karma Peep of the Month, Liane Medley, is an adored member of the Karma team. We’re ecstatic having her back behind the front desk after maternity leave with the birth of her first child. She adds personality, kindness and the remarkable skill of remembering names to her shifts at the studio. Here’s more that maybe you didn’t know about Liane.
How did you start practicing at Breathe?
I started a couple years ago by doing the intro series. I was looking for a gentle way to stretch my body and clear my head and it ended up being something that was perfect for what I was looking for. I started peeping several months later.
What was it about Breathe that made you want to join the karma crew?
I’ve truly loved every class I’ve taken at Breathe. Being on the Karma Crew initially allowed me to come in more often and try more classes since my budget didn’t allow me to come in as often as I’d like. The accountability of it is great too. I know if I’m scheduled for a shift that I can’t change my mind and stay home, and I’m always happy I’m here once I get here. Now having an 8 month old baby, being back in the Karma Crew has allowed me to gently move my body again and get some needed time for myself.
What is your favorite yoga pose and what is your least favorite yoga pose? And why?
My favorite pose is probably pigeon pose because I love the way the stretch feels in my body, but I also really like the challenge of balance poses like tree pose. The balancing really helps me focus on the present and clear my head. I don’t know if I have a least favorite pose, but I struggle with bow pose and have never been able to do it. Initially that was very frustrating for me, but not so much anymore; maybe I’ll get there someday. I’m still very much a beginner in a lot of ways, but one of the reasons I’ve loved Breathe is that I can come at the skill level I’m at for the day and there’s no pressure from myself or the instructors to be anything else.
In what way does your yoga practice most impact your daily life?
Doing yoga during pregnancy was one of the best things I did. It helped me feel great the entire time, and doing it from the start helped me ease into it and make adjustments as I went. Now, it’s a time to help me navigate my postpartum body and mind and take some time for myself.
What is a fun fact about you that not many people know?
I love to go thrift store shopping, I love making waffles for people, and I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Peeping has been such a wonderful opportunity to try new classes, have accountability, make friends, and grow a love for yoga.
