Once we have received your deposit, we will send you student information, including the book list, assignment details, directions, and local information if you are not from the area.

Who are the teachers on the course?
Is this an Inter Disciplinary Approach to Yoga Training?
During our program you will gain exposure to a wide range of styles. However, we will primarily focus into the Krishnamacharya lineage of alignment-based Vinyasa Flow yoga and the complementary, traditional Hatha Yoga practices. We believe this approach to study better prepares you both to teach and to deepen your own practice.
Is this an online training?
Yes, due to the corona virus we have adjusted our program to keep all participants and presenters safe and reduce the spread of the virus. There will be some optional in-person components that participants are welcome to come to. Additionally, you will be welcome to come in-person to classes during the program as long as you are pre-registered as our class sizes are limited to maintain social distancing.
What is the Schedule?
Schedule is subject to slight modification if needed, but in general:
- -Saturdays 9:30am-12:30pm, 2:30-5:30pm
- -Sundays 10:00am-1:00pm, 2:00-4:00pm
Are there any safety precautions/modifications as a result of Covid-19?
Yes, for the safety of all participants and presenters the upcoming teacher training program will be offered online with some optional in-person components. Additionally, the schedule has been modified to accommodate for the amount of screen time required. There will be some components that you complete on your own in between our YTT weekends. We will have a virtual touchpoint meeting in between YTT weekends to answer any questions that come up, foster group connectivity, and maintain momentum toward successful completion of the program.
Is there anything new to the program this year?
Our upcoming 2020-2021 format will feature several exciting, new components: inclusivity and yoga, inspirational marketing, and virtual teaching methodology.
What If I Have to Miss a Class?
We have been able to make up time with students over the years with various assignments depending on the content missed. We aim to minimize your expense, while maintaining the high standard of educational experience for our trainees. While it is possible to make up some parts of the training, other portions are impossible to make up, such as those with guest instructors. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let us know as early as possible and we will work with you toward a solution. If you are on the teacher training track, then missed classroom hours must be made up. A half-day can be typically made up with 60-90 minutes of one-on-one at the rate of $85/hour, extra homework assignments, plus additional class attendance to meet Yoga Alliance contact hour requirements. If you are on the Yoga Immersion Participation track, then we can arrange to get you the notes from another student so you are caught up, and any further arrangements you would like to make so that you are maximizing your experience.
What Hours are Required for the Course, Outside of Meeting Times?
-Attendance in 30 classes at Breathe Yoga Center with documented class participation form
-6 documented hours of class observation or assistance at or online with Breathe Yoga Center
-At-home module completion, plus reading assignments
All of which equates to approximately 5-6 hours per week.

Can I Still Participate If I am Not Interested in Becoming a Teacher?
Yes. This is an immersion into yoga and a wonderful way to deepen your practice, cultivate community and learn of the ancient practices and philosophy of yoga. You may choose to take this course ‘by participation’ only. We have made adjustments to this year’s schedule so that teaching skill and practicum components are grouped together and you will not be required to participate. Additionally, you will be exempt from homework assignments, karma yoga teaching and the final teaching requirement. Upon conclusion you will receive a certificate of participation.
What is the Refund Policy?
The $50 application fee and $250 deposit are non-refundable under any circumstance. Withdrawal from the course prior to September 1st, 2020, results in a refund of tuition paid, less non-refundable fees and a $200 processing fee. Without exception, there are no refunds after September 1st.
If you have uncertainty about the intensity of the course or time commitment involved, please talk to us before registering for the program.
Can I attend if I Am Not from the Hampton Roads Area?
Absolutely! If you have never attended a class with Meaghan or Gil, then we strongly suggest that you do if possible to get a feel for their style and approach to yoga. If that is not possible, then we may suggest a telephone interview to determine if this program is a good fit for you.
This is a particularly great year to take advantage of the online format as you can complete the course from anywhere that you have a good internet connection.
How Demanding is the Training?
Committing to a 6-month program involving self-study can be an intense experience. Dedicating yourself to a daily practice, regular study, class participation and class observation is no small endeavor and should not be undertaken lightly.
Take your time in making this decision and please reach out to us as a sounding board if you need. You may also reach out to past trainees to ask them questions, please contact us and we can put you in touch with them.
If you have more questions please contact us.
